Prerna Katte Appointed Additional Superintendent of Police

 Pandharpur : Prerna Katte has been appointed as the Additional Superintendent of Police for the newly sanctioned Additional SP office in Pandharpur. The government order regarding her appointment was issued on Friday.Owing to the large influx of devotees in Pandharpur during the Ashadhi and Kartiki Wari pilgrimages, there had been a long-standing demand for an independent Additional Superintendent of Police office to handle traffic control, law and order, and public safety. Against this backdrop, the state government had earlier approved the creation of the Additional SP office in Pandharpur.

Prerana Katte created history as the first woman Assistant Commissioner of Police in the Navi Mumbai Crime Branch. Coming from a farming family, she cleared the MPSC exam on her first attempt and has served in several key roles across Maharashtra, inspiring many, including actor R Madhavan. 

 Originally from Satara, she comes from an agricultural family. She has often said that no one in her family had previously worked in civil services, and in fact, she was the first person in her household to take up a job outside farming. Despite this background, Katte was determined to pursue a career in public service from an early age.
