Mumbai, July 18, 2026: After a prolonged dry spell in the first half of July, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted a fresh spell of rainfall across Maharashtra. A low-pressure area over the Bay of Bengal is reviving monsoon winds, bringing much-needed relief to several parts of the state.The IMD has issued a Yellow Alert for thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds in many districts today.

Marathwada: Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Jalna, Parbhani, Beed, Dharashiv, Hingoli

These regions are likely to receive light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunder and lightning at many places. Residents have been advised to remain alert and take necessary precautions.

Mumbai & Konkan Forecast

Mumbai and its suburbs will experience generally cloudy conditions for the next three days. Intermittent light to moderate showers are expected, though heavy downpours are not likely at the moment.The entire Konkan coast, including ghat sections, may also witness scattered light to moderate rainfall during the next 24 hours.

Current Monsoon Situation
Maharashtra has received below-normal rainfall so far in July. However, weather experts expect a significant improvement in monsoon activity from the coming week as the low-pressure system strengthens. This revival is crucial for agriculture and water reservoirs across the state.The IMD has urged citizens in alert areas to avoid open fields, stay away from electrical poles and trees during thunderstorms, and keep updated with official weather bulletins.
