Four Names in discussion for Maharashtra State Women’s Commission chairperson post
Following Rupali Chakankar’s resignation, four women leaders are being widely discussed for the vacant post of chairperson of the Maharashtra State Women’s Commission. Speculation is high over who among them will ultimately be appointed.
Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) national president and Deputy Chief Minister Sunetra Pawar has appointed Vaishali Nagavade as the new state women’s president of the NCP, filling the vacancy created by Chakankar’s resignation. The appointment wax made with the approval of state NCP president and MP Sunil Tatkare.Attention has now shifted to the Women’s Commission chairperson post, which falls under the NCP’s share in the Mahayuti alliance. The four names currently in circulation are:Rajlaxmi Bhosale, former Mayor of Pune and a senior NCP woman leader
Prerna Balkavade, NCP women’s district president from Nashik
Pratibha Shinde, a prominent social activist from North Maharashtra and
Jyoti Mete, a social activist from Beed.
With Vaishali Nagavade’s appointment as NCP state women’s president now confirmed, focus remains entirely on which of these four leaders will be chosen for the Women’s Commission chairperson position.
