Rohit Pawar Strongly Opposes, Says ‘Apna Time Aa Gaya’

As the Parliament’s monsoon session begins on Monday, political temperatures are rising over the highly sensitive Delimitation Bill (constituency re-delimitation).

Differences have now emerged within Sharad Pawar’s Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), triggering intense speculation in political circles.

While senior leader and Lok Sabha MP Supriya Sule has indicated readiness for a constructive discussion on the Bill in Parliament, her nephew and MLA Rohit Pawar has taken a hardline position, openly opposing the legislation and waving the flag of dissent.

Rohit Pawar has accused the ruling dispensation of hatching a “hidden conspiracy” to undermine the Constitution and weaken democracy. He has urged all opposition parties to firmly reject the Bill under any circumstances.

Rohit Pawar’s Sharp Attack

In a detailed social media post, Rohit Pawar alleged that the central government’s primary agenda for the monsoon session is to push through the Delimitation Bill. He claimed the government may try to lure states by promising a 50% increase in seats.He warned: “If we fall into this trap of numbers and support the Bill, Lok Sabha and Vidhan Sabha constituencies will be redrawn purely for political benefit — just like how wards were manipulated in municipal elections.

”Citing Assam as an example, Rohit Pawar said the exercise is being carried out without regard for geographical boundaries or constitutional norms, solely to perpetuate power. He alleged that since 2016, the BJP has been strategically planning — with the help of experienced former officials — how to redraw constituencies to its advantage. He further claimed that once the Bill is passed, the government’s “authoritarian face” will re-emerge, and along with delimitation, moves like SIR are part of a larger design against the Constitution.

Party Line Unclear

While Rohit Pawar has adopted an aggressive and confrontational stand, Supriya Sule has maintained a more parliamentary approach, expressing willingness to discuss the Bill within the democratic framework.

In his post, Rohit Pawar called upon opposition parties to unite, saying: “The youth of the country have now resolved to bring change. We must support them sincerely. The question before everyone is — struggle or compromise? This is not the time to wait saying ‘Apna Time Aayega’. The time has come — Apna Time Aa Gaya. The opposition must take a united and firm decision.

”All eyes are now on Sharad Pawar’s NCP to see what official stand the party takes in Parliament amid these visible internal differences.
