District Collector S. Kartikeyan to Stay in Pandharpur During Ashadhi Wari
Decision Taken to Ensure Smooth Pilgrimage; Measures Planned for Faster Darshan
Pandharpur: With lakhs of devotees expected for the Ashadhi Wari, District Collector S. Kartikeyan has instructed the police and temple administration to strictly prevent queue-jumping so that devotees receive Lord Vitthal’s darshan with minimum waiting time.Speaking to the media, the District Collector announced that he will personally remain stationed in Pandharpur until the conclusion of the Ashadhi Wari to ensure meticulous planning and seamless management of the pilgrimage.He stressed that better administrative coordination and constant monitoring are essential. For this, modern PCDR (Police Control and Dispatch Room) technology will be extensively used."The administration is working on a war footing to ensure the safety and comfortable experience of the devotees," Kartikeyan said. He added that shortcomings noticed during the previous Wari have been identified and necessary improvements are being implemented.Journalists also raised issues regarding VIP movement, traffic management during the Chief Minister’s Mahapooja, illegal street vendors, and poor road conditions. The Collector assured prompt action on these matters.
Use of Facial Recognition Technology
All 300 CCTV cameras in Pandharpur will be made fully functional with Facial Recognition (Face Identification) technology to identify and track criminals in the crowds.Action Against Encroachments & Cleanliness
Encroachments across the city have been removed, and special attention is being given to maintaining cleanliness of the Chandrabhaga riverbed.
Strict Action Against Rickshaw Drivers
Some rickshaw drivers have been overcharging devotees. A strict warning has been issued to rickshaw unions — if any driver charges even one rupee extra, their license will be cancelled.
Doctors Instructed to Stay in Pandharpur
Following complaints that some doctors leave the city during Wari, the Indian Medical Association held discussions with the administration. Doctors have now been instructed to remain available in Pandharpur to provide medical services to devotees.
