District Collector S. Karthikeyan Inspects Chandrabhaga Riverbed and Toilets in Pandharpur

Pandharpur : With the grand Ashadhi Ekadashi festival scheduled on July 25, District Collector S. Karthikeyan conducted an on-ground inspection of the Chandrabhaga riverbed and sanitation facilities to ensure smooth arrangements for lakhs of Warkari devotees expected during the pilgrimage.

Accompanied by Sub-Divisional Officer Sachin Ithape, Executive Engineer Amit Nimkar, Tehsildar Sachin Langute, Chief Officer Mahesh Rokade, District Planning Officer Dilip Pawar, District Disaster Management Officer Shakti Sagar Dhole, and officials from the Water Resources Department, the Collector personally reviewed the arrangements.Collector Karthikeyan inspected the toilets set up on the sandbed and near the riverbed. He checked water availability, cleanliness standards, and even opened some toilets himself for thorough inspection.He instructed officials to:Deploy adequate manpower for regular cleaning of toilets
Appoint additional sanitation workers for round-the-clock maintenance
Prevent littering on approach roads
Increase the number of dustbins to keep the riverbed clean

Interaction with Boat Operators

During the inspection, the District Collector also interacted with boat operators in the Chandrabhaga river. He issued strict instructions that:Boats must not carry passengers beyond their approved capacity
Water transport should be suspended before sunrise and after sunset
Both passengers and operators must mandatorily use safety equipment during boat rides

Collector Karthikeyan assured that the administration is making every effort to provide quality facilities and maintain high standards of hygiene for the safety and convenience of Warkari devotees during the Ashadhi Yatra.
